After graduating as a pharmacists at the University of Ghent, Marc realised that he was not particularly interested in working in a pharmacy and decided to specialise in clinical pathology. He was in charge of several laboratories (hospital and private) in Belgium and was also founded laboratories in different parts of the world.

In 2000 Marc left the field of clinical pathology to establish a stem cell company, Cryo-Save Group NV, which is the leading international stem cell storage company and the largest family stem cell bank in Europe. After 7 years the company was active in 40 countries on 3 continents. This company was also the first to start storing mesenchymal stem cells from fat tissue.

Meanwhile, he also founded Cryo-Care Scientific as a stem cell research company. This company is involved in the application of exosomes to treat diseases.

Marc initiated a successful listing of Cryo-Save on the AIM stock exchange in London and later also listed it on Euronext.

Marc lead both companies as the CEO for 10 years. After his promotion to President of the Board of Cryo-Save he retired as CEO. He spends half of the year in South-Africa and half of the year in Belgium.

His qualification includes Clinical Pathology, Haematology & Immunology, Bacteriology and Radiotherapy.
